Islamabad: Co-Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari says that former Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa had given instructions to impose martial law.
Asif Ali Zardari said in an interview that during the meeting with General Bajwah before the motion of no confidence, there were indications of imposing martial law from his body language. General Bajwah had said that I can impose martial law in 5 minutes, so he replied Bismillah, run the country and let us do farming.
The Co-Chairman of PPP added that General Bajwa called us and said I will tell Imran Khan that he will resign now, you should go to the election. I and Maulana Fazlur Rehman refused. It was known that they have made a plan to stay till 2035 by bringing their chief who was the third or the fourth. To thwart this plan, we brought a no-confidence motion.
He said that there should be a dialogue. In this regard, we will talk to our allies first. We don’t object to the election, we have a problem with history. Things are not right now. The IMF loan is due. We need some time. It will not be possible to move the election beyond October. All the parties sit and decide. The election should be one day.
